Channel 4 “Great Canal Journeys” featured “Winsome” a 1927 Dickies of Bangor built cruiser.

We recently had the pleasure of moving “Winsome” a 40 foot vessel built in 1927 by Dickies of Bangor.  At 92 years old and constructed of wood, transporting a boat of this vintage and construction requires the upmost of care and respect.  We have moved several historic boats and they all present different challenges.  Winsome was taken from Wayford Bridge in Norfolk and we delivered it to Lymington Yacht Haven for the new owners who sailed her across the channel to their home moorings on the Isle of Wight.  An excerpt from the “National Historic Ships” website reads:

“WINSOME is a Motor Yacht of teak and oak construction built by Dikkes of Bangor in 1927.  She was used on the Thames in the 1930s and was also the committee boat for the Classic Boat Association.  During the Second World War she was requisitioned by the Royal Navy and was put on the lakes of Snowdonia.”

We would like to thank the new owners for entrusting us to take care of “Winsome” and hope that they enjoy such a lovely boat.
